It belongs to the Bromeliaceae family and is native to Central America and the highlands of Brazil. It has silver leaves arranged in a rosette, with hooked spines on the edge, but velvety surface. It produces beautiful yellow / orange flowers particular smell, and not die like other bromeliads after flowering. He lives well in full sun in summer and winter support temperatures near freezing. So it can be placed outside, sheltered from the rain when it's cold, but withdrawn at home in anticipation of frost. It should be watered abundantly in summer, very little in winter, leaving no stagnant water in the rosette of leaves. Tends to accestire, forming clumps of seedlings from which division, to be performed only in the warm season, originate new specimens of Dyckia.
