Curiosity: It is a cactacea particularly known for its flamboyant flowering
It is one of the best known cactus because of its ease of cultivation and reproduction. It is a fat plant with a globular aspect (which then turns into a cylindrical when it grows) with a main stem which is flanked by all the others, generally smaller and more thorny. The main stem presents the classic "coasts", typical of echinopsis and many other succulents. The base tends to become lignea with the growth and the spines are short and appear from a light white woolly down. Its appearance, especially when young, is very pretty and at the same time unusual, excellent for creating a corner of succulents in your home! It also produces very large and showy flowers: it is one of the characteristics for which it is remembered more.
Its cultivation is simple and does not present too many complications: it grows well in full sun or light twilight. It resists in summer even at high temperatures and in winter even up to -10 ° C. They are succulent plants suitable for growing outdoors and in rock gardens.
The need for water is scarce and is about 1 time a week during the vegetative period: in these plants it is better not to overdo it because a stagnation could be really harmful!
From spring and throughout the summer it can be fertilized with a liquid fertilizer to be diluted in irrigation water.
