Small but strong, and also beautiful: the Hawortia fasciata is the succulent of the moment!

The genus Hawortia is named after the British Adrian Haworth. They are succulents that resemble small Aloes. The Hawortia was in fact included in the genus Aloe before 1800. The nickname "bandaged", as you can well guess, comes from the streaks on the leaves, white, very evident and in relief. The Hawortia plant has small dimensions: it usually does not exceed 15 cm in height but is equally spectacular thanks to this white-green-reddish contrast on its leaves, which create a sort of almost "sprawling" agglomeration. Usually the upper page of the leaf presents the less evident streaks, almost point-like but equally embossed. It is a fat plant that in its compactness gives an impression of strength, and is certainly one of the most suitable to create a tropical-style corner in your home, given its origins from sub-Saharan Africa.
Certainly the Hawortia requires little care and little water: it should be given only when the soil is dry and still in moderation, even in summer (where it is possible to vaporize the leaves). Contrary to other succulents, it loves the positions of half-shade, because it often grows like a shrubby plant near the rocks and the sun can cause burns or make it reddish. The ideal temperature for cultivating Hawortia must never be less than 10 ° C. The ideal ground must be extremely draining, even better if in river gravel mixed with sand.
Hawortia can be fertilized from spring to late summer with specific fertilizer for succulents.
