Curiosity: The nickname of this succulent is easy to understand: it is obviously due to the arrangement of the bands in relief on the leaves and the dark color of the latter.
Hawortia fasciata is a succulent with leaves very similar to those of Aloe. This succulent plant was in fact included in the genus Aloe before 1800. The nickname derives from the streaks in relief on the leaves, which - together with the dark color - obviously recall the black and white version of a zebra. The genus Hawortia is named after the British researcher Adrian Haworth. It has small dimensions, generally does not exceed 20 cm in height. Its leaves are almost "tentacles" that branch off to rosette from the center of the vase, stretched upwards with a very erect posture.
It is a succulent that combined with this handmade terracotta vase branded Flob becomes a true design element, as well as a beautiful plant.
Hawortia fasciata requires little water: it should be given only when the soil is dry and in moderation even in summer (about once a week). He loves the positions of half-shade because it often grows near the rocks: the sun can cause burns on the leaves or make them reddish. The ideal temperature of Hawortia fasciata must never be less than 10 ° C. The soil must necessarily be draining, even better if mixed with sand to make it softer. It can be fertilized from spring to late summer, with specific fertilizer for succulents.
