Curiosity: The name of this genus was obtained by anagramming the word Bolivia, the region of origin.
Lobivia arachnacanta is a very interesting cactacea (today it is considered part of the larger genus Echinopsis) for the arrangement of its stems: the central one is "surrounded" by other smaller ones along the entire circumference, thus creating a sort of crown that produces a lot often very showy yellow or orange flowers, which can become even larger than the plant itself. Despite its small size, the elegance with which it presents the Lobivia is truly remarkable and is increased even more when it is flowered, thanks to the touch of color that is formed on its top.
It is an easy to grow cactus: it must be grown in full sun or at most in dim light, but do not put it in the sun too quickly from one season to another: it can burn and lose its beauty. In winter it must be repaired if temperatures fall below zero. For a better flowering, it is good to let him spend the winter under 7 ° C. Lobivia watering must be regular from early spring, without ever exaggerating (sufficient once a week) avoiding stagnation, and the soil must be very porous and well draining.
