History and fun facts: pineapple, which was already planted by Incas, Maya ed Aztecs, is known in many countries as a symbol of hospitality and welcoming.
Also knows as decorative pinapple, Pineapple Pacifico belongs to the family of Bromeliaceae and is a very scenic, easy to grow evergreen plant. In the middle of the thick shrug that its dark green leaves give shape to is the bud, that then becomes a fruit, which is identical to the edible one by shape and perfume, but is much smaller. The name Ananas comes from the Arabic words "ain" and "anas", which are literally translated as "human eye”: the external scales of its fruits resemble in fact human eyes. In order to best grow this plant you should place the vase in a well lit spot, (where it can receive light for at least 8 hours a day), away from cold air currents and at a temperature of at least 15°C or above. In addition to this, you should be watering the soil only when completely dry, trying to avoid waterlogging, and spray the leaves with water during very hot days. Between Spring and Autumn you should add to the water a good liquid fertilizer once a month, in order to guarantee a healthy and blooming growth. So there you have it: a trendy, beautiful to look at, strong plant which will add a touch of exotic to your living room.
