Beautifully, very decorative and peculiar plant, the Palm of the Hawaii (Brighamia insignis) reaches in its natural habitat even 5 m high.
It only now survives in the Hawaiian archipelago and is therefore considered a rather rare plant: its scarcity is due to the fact that the only insect recognized as pollinator of this plant (a particular species of moth) is now extinct.
If grown in pots generally does not reach 1 m high. The trunk of this palm is very similar to that of other palms, but the leaves (fleshy) create a sort of "rosette" very characteristic, with very fragrant yellow flowers blooming in autumn until the end of winter.

Exposure and brightness: requires very intense light, in full sun for at least 5 hours a day.

Temperature: As an exotic plant, the temperature at which it should be stored should never drop below 18 ° C.

Soil type: This palm of a very soft and draining soil, consisting of lapillo off mixed with leaves or compost.

Irrigation: it is necessary to unload it regularly throughout the year; between irrigation and the other substrate must dry very well.

Fertilization: Constant throughout the flowering period, with specific fertilizer for succulent low nitrogen content.

N.B. The above specifications may vary depending on the climate of the area where the plant is placed after the purchase and the season.

Beh, una pianta in via di estinzione è davvero una grossa responsabilità: spero proprio di essere all'altezza. La consiglio anche per il significato ecologico della scelta.
