Rhipsalis, the sweet-looking cactacea!

At first glance, the appearance of Rhipsalis might seem like a small shrub, but it is not like that: in its branches there is a cactacea soul, and in fact this is the genus to which this plant belongs.
Its cylindrical stems are covered by thorns, but they are so soft to look like a hair. In nature they grow as epiphytes, ie on the branches of large trees, particularly in the areas of Central and South America, Central Africa, Madagascar and Sri Lanka.
The name of Rhipsalis derives from the Greek "rhips" or "rush", as with the growth the branches of the plant tend to intertwine.
They are used a lot as plants to hang just for their hanging and "soft", in contrast to that of all other cacti. The Rhipsalis pilocarpa shares the shape of cylindrical drums with the others, but the latter are darker and larger in diameter than varieties like the "burchellii" or the more famous "cassutha".
In this coconut fiber jar it enhances even more the beauty of this plant: the vase is completely made of natural and biodegradable material, and has a rope that will allow you to hang it everywhere.
The cultivation of these delicious cacti does not see particular difficulties: the Rhipsalis pilocarpa likes a cultivation temperature between 10 ° C and 30 ° C. The more the environment is dry the more these plants grow well. In summer they are to be watered once a week; in winter every 15 days or even monthly.
The best soil for Rhipsalis is well draining, with the addition of organic material or sawdust. Fertilization must be done during the vegetative period with fertilizer suitable for cacti.
Following these simple indications the Rhipsalis will reward you with a wonderful and fragrant flowering!
