Peperomia, unmissable in the tastefully furnished apartments!!
Peperomia is a delicious evergreen native to South America, with a bushy but often also climbing or creeping habit. It is native to the Amazon rainforests, and its genus includes about 1000 species. Its nickname derives from the shape of the leaves, in this variety smooth and not variegated, resembling drops of water or rain. It is a never banal plant, which remains compact and of short stature, of sure decorative effect. Peperomia It possesses little voluminous roots and stems with abundant aquifer tissues. Given its resistance to smoke and steam, if desired it can even be placed in the kitchen. Its "umbrella" development creates a particularly elegant aesthetic effect. Most of the species of Peperomia blooms from June to September producing the characteristic spikelets that bear the mostly whitish flowers.
It comes from tropical areas, and loves bright and humid places, but not direct sunlight. In summer it can easily withstand temperatures above 24 ° C, and it is necessary to guarantee the correct humidity. In winter, the ideal temperature should never go below 13 ° C.
Peperomia prefers a fertile ground mixed with peat and sand to promote drainage. From the spring and throughout the summer it should be irrigated with great moderation, allowing the soil to dry between one watering and another, avoiding water stagnation.
