More info

From the Philippines, alocasia is ready to amaze anyone!

Alocasia is a beautiful houseplant that draws its origins from the Philippines. It is also called "elephant plant" or "elephant ear plant" because its leaves, if stirred by the wind, closely resemble the ears of the animal. It is an evergreen and rhizomatous plant, and aesthetically speaking its leaves are very interesting, of dark green color but furrowed by silvery-white ribs, and with jagged outlines. In pot cultivation, each leaf of the Alocasia also reaches the length of 25 cm. They come from the humid regions of the Philippines, but can also be found in the Amazon regions. Alocasia is a plant that supports warm and humid climates. It can therefore be placed as a houseplant, in a very luminous area and with a temperature of not less than 18 degrees, but taking care to nebulize it on the leaves constantly. It requires regular watering with fresh water when the soil is almost dry. In winter, the waterings of Alocasia must be reduced a lot, but the humidity on the leaves must remain constant. The ideal soil is very draining and slightly acidic, and must be fertilized every 2 weeks from March to August with a specific fertilizer for green plants.
