Callisia Fragrans: the plant with healing properties

The Callisia Fragrans is a perennial, succulent plant native to Mexico, characterized by fleshy leaves arranged alternately along the stem and wrapping at the base so as to form true rosettes. The color of the leaves is generally dark green, but can take on a slightly purple hue on the lower page, if the plant grows under sun exposure. The flowers, small and white, grow in the shape of an ear and have a pleasant fragrance, hence the name fragrans of its name. The latter generally appear in winter and persist until spring. Its aesthetic appeal gives a very pleasant overall effect. Furthermore, not everyone knows that Callisia Fragrans has healing properties; inside it has very useful plant steroids to fight infections and to stimulate the immune system's defenses. Thanks to its rusticity it does not require great care for its cultivation, in fact it adapts well both in internal and external environments; it is also able to withstand even the lack of water and light. But don't take advantage of it! If cared for properly, it will repay you with intense green foliage that will make it perfect for decorating your home.

Callisia Fragrans :how to take care

Exposure and brightness: Callisia prefers to stay in full sun but also grows in mid-shade. In this case it will lose the streaks and the purple coloring of the leaves. However it adapts quite easily to the temperatures, but if we want to make it happy we prefer a temperature around 18 ° C with a good level of humidity. During the cold months it is better to keep it sheltered so as to allow it to enter in vegetative rest.

Irrigation: Callisia is watered throughout its growing period, as the soil needs to be constantly moist, taking care to avoid possible water stagnation. During periods of intense heat the foliage should also be sprayed. During the months of vegetative rest the irrigations must be reduced.

Fertilization: Fertilization must be carried out during the vegetative period with a specific fertilizer for fat plants.

N.B. The specifications described above may vary depending on the climate of the area where the plant is placed and the season
