Schefflera variegata, an evergreen with a bonsai nature

The Schefflera is known as an "umbrella plant" because of the arrangement of its leaves that gather in groups creating what looks like the shape of an umbrella seen from above. This variegated cultivar has yellow hues and a shrubby habit, with branches that originate from some very tall and intertwined stems. The hair that is created is of considerable impact because much thicker than the common Schefflera. It is therefore a very charming evergreen, excellent for garden ornaments and flowerbeds as well as a flat or office plant. It is a species that can also be grown as bonsai, and takes its name from the German botanist who discovered it Jacob Christian Scheffler.
The treatments to better vegetate this variegated Schefflera plant are similar to those of all the other indoor plants: it must be placed in a very bright area, avoiding direct sunlight. In the absence of light, the delicate leaves could fade a lot or fall. If the plant becomes too high, the terminal part can be pruned without problems.
It likes regular waterings but with modest amounts of water poor in salts, or only the necessary to keep the soil slightly moist.
It must be kept in constant humidity conditions, so it is necessary to spray the leaves with a spray from time to time. It also tolerates high temperatures; instead, it is struggling to survive at temperatures below 12 ° C. The Schefflera Variegata likes a porous soil, with peat, sand and leaves. It is fertilized from April to October with a specific fertilizer for green plants to be diluted naturally in the water.
